Welcome back! I hope that you had a rejuvenating break from the routines of school life!
Each year we join with Marists around Australia to focus on a theme. This year the theme calls us to aware of God in our daily lives and to draw strength from God’s presence and God’s love for us. It invites us to live consciously, to avoid rushing through life too quickly and missing what’s really important. It challenges us to live as the best versions of ourselves; as people who respect the gifts that God has given us and who are committed to developing our gifts in the service of others. In other words, it encourages us to live as God wants us to live – because we are #CalledtoHoliness.
Holiness is simply this - doing what God wants us to do: and that, is to be aware of God’s presence in our lives and develop our God given gifts in the service of others. There are many places and people in our lives that we can look to for inspiration and models of how to live. This year, may we remember the dedication and love of work of St. Marcellin Champagnat, and be inspired to work hard to develop our own potential. May we remember too, the commitment of Jesus to standing up for justice by challenging those who selfishly mistreated others and be inspired by Jesus’ example to reach out to those in need and share compassion and generosity of Spirit with them. We are all called to holiness: answering the call is our responsibility, and it is as simple and as difficult as putting others before ourselves and respecting ourselves enough to work hard so that we can realise the faith that God has in us.
