2020 Year 10 Careers Education Programs

Dear Year 10 Parents and Students,

As part of the Year 10 Breadth Curriculum, your son will participate in two activities, “Careers for Life” and “Exploring the world of work”. The year 10 students will have the opportunity to explore ONE week of Work Experience placement during term two.

The week for Work Experience in 2020 is Monday 15th June – Friday 19th June.

On Friday 29th November 2019 at a Year 9 Assembly your son was provided with Work Experience information. To support your son please find the relevant Work Experience documents from the Careers Office and on the Careers Website on the following link

In the meantime we urge all students to actively obtain a place by going out to meet employers, talking to family, friends etc. It will be your son’s responsibility to secure his Work Experience placement and return the form by Friday 8th May 2020.

Please also note that your son will be involved in “Careers for Life”; a comprehensive literacy and numeracy test and a vocational interest measure test delivered by Career-Wise. The assessment is designed to provide students with objective information about themselves, help them understand occupations and identify specific career directions. The Assessment Sessions at the College are scheduled for Wednesday 12 February 2020 between 8.45am – 10.30am. It is important that your son is at school during this day as the assessment forms a vital tool in VCE Subject Selection later in the year and beyond.

We invite you to share this stage of the journey by attending our Student/Parent Feedback Evening at Marcellin held at 7.00pm on Tuesday 25 February 2020 - AUG, CAR, CHA, CHI, FAU and Wednesday 26 February 2020– KEN, LAV, MAN, MAR, RED. At this session each student will receive their report. This will be your only opportunity to receive the results so we urge you and your son to attend.

Warm regards
