General College information for parents, students and staff.
VCE, VET, VCAL
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is the certificate that the majority of students in Victoria receive on satisfactory completion of their secondary education. The VCE provides diverse pathways to further study or training at university or TAFE and to employment.
At Marcellin, in Year 11 and 12, students have the option of undertaking two distinct senior pathways. These include VCE or VCAL pathways. Students also have the option of selecting from a number of VCE/VET subjects.
Further details about the College's VCAL program and VET subjects are available on the VCAL and VET page within the Learning & Teaching section of MyMarcellin.
At Year 11, students study 6 subjects including a RE based subject.
At Year 12, students study 5 subjects. The Religious Education component at Year 12 takes the form of eight Seminar Days which students participate in throughout the year. These days allow our students to be actively involved in the further development of their Catholic faith and understanding of the Marist values.
Year 10 students can apply for acceleration to study one VCE or VET Unit 1&2 subject as part of their elective subjects in Year 10.
Year 11 students can apply for acceleration to study one VCE or VET Unit 3&4 subject in Year 11.
High achieving students can apply to study two VCE or VET subjects in Year 10 or 11. Based on their results, the Assistant Principal (Learning) and Head of Senior School will approve such a request. Please refer to the attached Acceleration Application form for further details.
